Bolygo Pharmaceuticals unveils new ambulance shuttle

In a world where Apparitions become that much frightening every day and where medical emergencies require quick response times more than ever, Bolygo Pharmaceuticals has taken measures to respond to the changing landscape.

With the purpose of modernising our fleet, we purchased 15 custom-built Knight-class chassis in early 2079, followed by 15 more in June 2079. These ships were extensively refitted from the base model based on our very strict specifications, with the purpose of serving as rapid-response ambulance shuttles. They feature increased engine performance, modifications for atmospheric flight, modernised electronics and modular medical equipment.

The two first Szakadt-class prototypes (Sohonnai and Sebes) were delivered in early May 2079 and subjected to rigorous testing, in interplanetary space, LEO, HALO and atmospheric flights.

Record-breaking performance

During one of the atmospheric test flights, witnessed by the press, Pilot Ilonara Kórica drove the Sohonnai up to a high-atmospheric flight between London (UK) and New York (USA) that lasted 46 minutes 28 seconds, with a recorded top ground speed of 5,389 km/h (Mach 4.3), using Emergency Power and overloading the engines for 35 percent of the total distance covered.

This broke both the highest airspeed for a commercial vessel (held since 1996 by the venerable Concorde airliner) and the highest airspeed for a photonic-drive vessel (held since 2057 by the X-92 experimental craft).

In everyday missions, Szakadt-class ambulance shuttles operate at a relatively sedate Mach 2.8-3. Still, this record-breaking flight shows the commitment of Bolygo Pharma in providing the fastest and most reliable emergency services in the market and the superb skill of our shuttle pilots.
